I’m going to Minneapolis!!!!

I’m going to Minneapolis on Spring Break! Anna said that I might even get a present. I’m so excited! I’m going to visit American Girl, which is some  store that Anna gets catalogs from. It has furniture, clothes, books, a hair salon, and a cafe. I want to get more clothes (most of what I have right now are hand-me-downs from Taryn and Brianne) and more things for my room. Anna says I need a real bed instead of just sleeping on a futon so we might buy a new yellow bed that American Girl is selling right now. I also really want a painting set. I asked Anna about these things and she said “Maaaaybeee.” SO EXCITED!

Presenting Miss Puffball Tate

This is a dress that I got for Christmas. I have been forced to wear it to every party I go to. Anna says I look “cute” in it (and it’s the only dress I have). I… disagree, to put it mildly.

Have you ever had to wear something you absolutely hated?

Happy New Year!

Hi everyone! Did you have a good new year? I did. My new year’s resolution is to post more on my blog. I haven’t posted since the summer! -_-

Things have been going well for me. I started grade 6 and am having a good time.

In weirder news, a new catalog came yesterday. It was the clothes catalog that Anna gets every month. On the first pages, there were pictures with a model who looked just like me. She could have been my sister, actually. I wanted to tell Anna, but then I decided not to. It was probably just a coincidence.

A few years ago, though, I was told I did have a sister.

Could this girl be related to me? Maybe I’ll find out…

Candy from Japan

Hi everyone! Today I got another thing from Keiko: some candy from Japan! She also sent a recipe on how to make one type of candy (it was soup and couldn’t be sent or it would all slosh around, haha).

So here are some pictures of the candy: (Human note: Callie’s “candies” are actually Japanese erasers I bought at a store in Vancouver called Yokoyaya. You could probably buy something like them online.)

This is a kind of greenish soup. I don’t know what it is but it tasted pretty good.

This is mochi on a stick. I’ve had mochi before so I knew what it was. They tasted really good and it was so fun eating it off the stick!!!

I don’t know what this was but it was yummy.

Anna wanted to do some more experimenting with her camera and took this close-up of my eye.

And here I am with the lights off. Thank you for reading this post!

Love,

Callie

Keiko’s letter!!!

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven’t blogged in such a long time! The people who rent the house where I am staying have puppies, AND I’ve been reading the hunger games, so not much time to blog. I hope to get better at doing it every day. 🙂

Keiko’s letter came today! She is a procrastinator like me and didn’t write it for a long time. She told me that she likes science too (especially robots) and goes to an international school. I sent her my letter this morning.

Not much has been happening around here. Tomorrow I want to show you some pictures of where we’re staying, because I have almost no pictures on here.

My penpal

Recently, I read a book about schools in other countries. I got very interested in finding out about other countries, particularly because I have never been outside of Canada before. I talked to Anna about it, and she told me she has a friend in Japan with a daughter my age! I asked if we could be penpals and Anna emailed her friend and she said yes! I wrote my first letter to this girl. I don’t know much about her except that her name is Keiko and she’s eleven like me. She lives in Tokyo and her dad is Japanese but her mom is Canadian so she speaks fluent English.

Here is my letter:

Dear Keiko,

Hi! My name is Callie and I am eleven years old. I like science, reading and art. I also like chocolate. I used to live in a children’s home but  now I live with a family. I have never been to another country before. I am from Winnipeg and I had never even been outside of Winnipeg! I am in BC on vacation. It is the first other province I’ve ever been to.

The Olympics are on right now. I am cheering for Canada but also for Japan now because you are my penpal now. Which countries are you cheering for?

I hope you like the present I sent you. I spent a very long time picking it out. 🙂

Love,

Callie

The present I got her was a little painting of a beach on Vancouver Island. It has whales in the background and is very pretty.

Keiko’s letter is coming in a week, and I don’t think I can wait that long! It will be so exciting to finally get it.

P.S. Please post a comment on my bunny post! He needs a name 🙂

A surprise

Hi! Today I got a huge surprise. Do you want to know what happened? Read on!

I had been seeing big boxes coming to our house for a few days. When I asked Anna and James what was inside, they wouldn’t tell me. Today I was so frustrated that I decided I was going to get out of bed in the middle of the night and open them all.

This evening after supper, Anna sent me outside to play while she and James cleaned up. I went outside and heard something, but I had no idea what it was.

It was………………………………………………………………………………….(dots are so fun!!!)

a……….

Yes, that little gray speck is a BUNNY!!!!!!

He had to get used to me and would not let me pet him right away…

But he was very friendly and liked sitting in my lap. Don’t worry, he’s not attacking me in this picture. Just sitting on me 🙂

Do you have any pets? What do you think I should name my bunny?

Love,

Callie & Currently Nameless Bunny ❤

The Procrastinator

I haven’t posted in such a long time! I guess I was having so much fun that I totally forgot about my blog. Anyway, I now know how to stilt and how to act in a play.

I wish that I could post pictures. This blog has hardly any. Unfortunately Anna is in San Francisco at a friend’s memorial and she brought the camera with her. She is coming back today.

I have been staying with New Dad. His name is James. James has lots of cool stuff on his computer.  He has a huge video game collection! James is very good at video games and beat me at almost all of them, but there are some that I’m better at.

I have also been swimming almost every day and going to the library a lot. There are two movies from a series I really like that are on hold right now. They’re travel movies for kids. They are some of my favorite movies!

I hope to post actual pictures when Anna comes back. I have no camps next week so I’ll probably be blogging more.

Much <3,

Callie

BC

Today was my first day in BC. I had to take a looooong flight to get there. I had never gone on an airplane before. I was  OK with it except for takeoff and landing. When we got to the house we were renting I went to bed without eating anything because I was so tired.

The next day (today), I woke up and had breakfast and then went to day camp. My camp is art and circus tricks and it’s really fun.

I hope to post pictures tomorrow!

Love,

Callie
